The US Embassy in Tirana shared a remembrance today on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Through a post on social media, the embassy highlighted a timely message from Secretary of State Marco Rubio that anti-Semitism has no place in this world.

“On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and reaffirm our shared responsibility to remember the past and work toward a future free from violence and hatred.

As Secretary Rubio has said, “Anti-Semitism has no place in this world.” The United States remains committed to confronting anti-Semitism and Holocaust distortion. We recognize Albania’s unique history as one of the few Nazi-occupied countries where Jews found refuge, thanks to the courage of ordinary Albanians. We welcome Albania’s continued partnership in the fight against anti-Semitism, such as its adoption last year of the Best Practices for the Principles of the Washington Conference on Nazi-Confiscated Art, which advance justice and compensation for Holocaust-era cultural property,” the message said./ CNA
