Former Head of State Police Ends 44-Year Career/ Prençi: Dignified

The First Director of the State Police, Besnik Bakiu, has ended active service today after 44 years of career, retiring.

There have been many evaluations of him from the heads of the State Police and colleagues.

Former Director General of Police, Ahmet Prençi, through a post on social networks, expressed his gratitude to Besnik Bakiu, for his 44-year contribution to the ranks of the blue uniforms, his personality, loyalty and honesty in the performance of his duties.

"Words of Gratitude for the First Director, Besnik Bakiu!
After 44 years of uninterrupted service in the ranks of the State Police, the closing of a bright chapter in the life and career of the First Director, Besnik Bakiu is marked.
Besnik has not simply been a police officer and leader. He has been an example of dedication, honesty and love for the uniform that he wore with pride from his youth until today, on his last day of service.


I was lucky to have him as an old and precious friend and collaborator in years of challenges and strong experiences. With him we shared not only the duties of the service, but also long conversations about the sacrifices of the police, about delicate moments and about moments where courage and dedication decided the fate of people.
Besnik is and will remain a valuable voice in public life, a fair opinion leader, an honest critic, a man of broad culture and a special love for literature, history, cinema and art.


To end a 44-year service with a clean slate is a rare honor.
But it is not the end of his public journey, it is the beginning of a new stage. I am sure that Besnik's voice will be heard even louder in defense of the values of the police, for which he has given everything, in support of the improvements needed by this institution, which for over three decades has paid with dozens and dozens of lives the price of our security.
He will proudly keep his uniform and ranks as precious relics at home. But they will always remain alive in his mind, heart and words. Because Besnik does not only belong to the history of the police, he is a living part of it.
