Journalist Hysni Gurra has stated that the reason why Prime Minister Edi Rama is silent about the McGonigal Scandal is because he does not know how much the Americans know about it.

In an interview with the journalist Sonila Meço, he said that this is the reason why he avoids and returns answers through a secretary.

"The fact that the American media did not simply make a sporadic article and it came out only once and they gave up, we must also remind the Albanian public that the 'Washington Post' is the media that overthrew the President of Nixon, so their persistence and the silence of Edi Rama shows that this was an occult relationship between Rama and senior FBI officials, the case of McGonigal but also of his predecessors.
