The Ambassador of the European Union in Tirana, Christiane Hohmann, spoke about the meeting she held with the new head of the Special Prosecutor's Office, Altin Dumani.

Hohmann expressed conviction for the toughening of the fight against impunity.

The EU diplomat said that we should focus on the problem of corruption, on the traffic of influence and not to judge whether it is a high political figure or not as important as it should be

“Korrupsioni është krim, pavarësisht kush e kryen. Askush nuk duhet të jetë jashtë sistemit gjyqësor. Nuk ka rëndësi rangu apo pozita e personit. Nëse kryen krimin e korrupsionit, duhet të përgjigjesh në gjykatë. Kjo është e rëndësishme. Të gjithë janë të barabartë para ligjit. Ky është parimi bazë i drejtësisë në sistemin tonë. Ne bashkëpunojmë ngushtësisht me investigimin dhe e ndihmojmë SPAK-un të ndërtojë kapacitetet investigative dhe të përmirësojë punën, pasi është një strukturë e ndërtuar rishtas.

So, we must again focus on the problem of corruption, on the influence traffic and not judge whether it is a high political figure or not as important as it should be. Corruption is a crime and must be eradicated. That's why we need SPAK and the judiciary as a whole to fight it", said Hohman in front of journalist Erla Mëhilli in Euronews Albania./ CNA.al
