The 27th edition of the Balkan Junior Mathematics Olympiad - JBMO 2023

At the moment, the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad for Young People - JBMO 2023 is taking place in the premises of the Sami Frashëri school.

This is the 27th edition of JBMO and the second that the Albanian Mathematics Association -AMA (www.ama.org.al), the official representative of JBMO, organizes and hosts in our country in the last 24 years.

JBMO is an annual competition for students up to the age of 15 (9th grade). Students from 19 countries of the Balkans and beyond take part in this event. The Olympics program will last from June 23 to 28. Participants will challenge their knowledge in the fields of mathematics and logic.

The 27th edition of the Balkan Junior Mathematics Olympiad - JBMO 2023

On June 24, the opening ceremony of JBMO 2023 was held in Tirana.

JBMO 2023 points out the importance of mathematics in Albania, the Balkans and beyond, the commitment of our country to cultivate intellectual and scientific skills between generations, to promote new talents and to arouse interest in the field of mathematics and science in general.

Such events bring together young people from different cultures and enable them to grow up with a tolerant mindset towards society. JBMO 2023 has the support of institutions, organizations and businesses in the country and Kosovo, among which we mention:

VIRTUS EXCELLENCE TRAINING CENTER, CREDINS BANK, NINETY-ONE, ERA CATERING, NEW YORK SCHOOL OF SCIENCE IN KOSOVO, WISEWORD, MULTI MEDICAL CENTER, BERAT MUNICIPALITY, MINISTRY OF CULTURE, MINISTRY OF INTERIOR AFFAIRS, MINISTRY OF EUROPE AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS.

The Albanian Mathematical Association (AMA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sports of Albania (MAS) and the Mathematics Society for Southeast Europe (MASSEE) realizes the participation of Albania in important international competitions with outstanding achievements, among which we mention;

- Balkan Math Olympiad for Adults - Balkan Math Olympiad (BMO), (1 Silver Medal & 8 Bronx Medals)

- Balkan Mathematics Olympiad for Young People - Junior Balkan Math Olympiad (JBMO), (6 Bronze Medals)

- European Mathematics Olympiad for Women (EGMO), (1 Bronx Medal)

- International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). (3 Bronx Medals)

AMA also cooperates closely with the sister association, and since 2020 the mathematicians of Kosovo have successfully organized the KAMO-Kosovo-Albania Mathematical Olympiad (KAMO).

KAMO 2023 will take place in Tirana on July 18-21, 2023.
