The miners of the copper mine in Spaç, Mirdita, continued their protest today, which has been going on for more than 14 days.
Around 70 employees are demanding higher wages and better working conditions and have reiterated that they will not withdraw until their demands are met. The protest has been accompanied by a work boycott.
A few days ago, the company fired 16 miners and refused to sit down with the union they founded, arguing that they did not meet legal criteria.
Yesterday, representatives of the Spaç miners in Mirdita and the company "TETE Albania" held a meeting mediated by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, with the aim of finding a solution, but no agreement was reached.
The main demand was the reinstatement of 17 unjustly dismissed miners and the initiation of negotiations within 10 to 15 days to meet the workers' other demands, but it was rejected by the company./ CNA
