The head of PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule, has spoken about the sentence of Fredi Beleri to two years in prison for buying votes.

Invited to the show "A Show", Dule said that as of today, Albania has its first political prisoner.

"Today the mock trial against Freddy Beller was concluded and no one has seen the video, no one has heard the recordings, because they did not exist.

what happened

On May 6, 2023, the order was given by Edi Rama that the road to the municipality of Himara had to be cut off from Beleri. It was thought that with his arrest on May 12, 24 hours before the election process, with the panic created, the arrest and detention of the opposition candidate, an easy victory could be achieved on May 14, they could release Beler.

But it doesn't work, Beleri convincingly won the municipality of Himara. From the cell, Beleri asked those who made the decision to imprison him to justify this decision. They then began to assemble a process.

As it was spectacularly dismantled in the courtroom, it proved that the process was poorly assembled, amateurish and with blunders that were convincingly and systematically exposed by Beler's defense.

As of today, we have the first political prisoner in the Republic of Albania', said Vangjel Dule. / CNA
