The former Minister of the Interior, Sandër Lleshaj, stated this evening that politics and organized crime cooperate with each other.

Lleshaj said in the show "Top Story" that crime in Albania has a vital need for connections with politics.

"Undoubtedly, crime in Albania and wherever it survives needs many sources of food, where the political connection cannot be excluded. Not only here, but everywhere crime and politics communicate with each other. The fact that politicians are involved in crime does not mean that they go out and take up arms.

Crime needs the economy, media and finance, and every time we see it strong and empowered, we must be clear that its allies are also present. I can't say it's empowered because we have a big problem, we focus on the visible part, but actually there is a bottom part of the iceberg, where the power of crime is produced.
