Hearing for "Territorial" in Gjirokastër/ Mazniku and Boçi

The Administrative-Territorial Reform has gathered in a public hearing in Gjirokastra the leaders of the Special Commission, representatives of local government and citizens.

Although the purpose of the meeting was to gather suggestions for the three main pillars - territory, services and finances - the discussion did not pass without political debates between the two co-chairs.

Arbjan Mazniku has defended the current structure, emphasizing increased efficiency and the necessity of modernizing services through larger units.

On the other hand, Luciano Boçi has been quite critical, claiming that the reform has failed to bring services closer to the citizen and has increased the cost of living in rural areas.

Boçi stressed that the current map has left peripheral areas in oblivion and that local government has moved away from the direct interest of residents, turning into a cumbersome administrative machine. /CNA
