The US Department of State published the Fiscal Transparency Report for 2025.

Albania is one of 71 countries listed in this report, as it has been assessed as having met the minimum requirements for fiscal transparency.

The report, mandated by the US Congress and released on September 19, shows that of 140 governments and entities assessed, 71 met minimum fiscal transparency criteria, while 69 did not. However, of the latter group, 26 countries have made significant progress towards meeting the standards.

In its assessment, the State Department emphasizes that Albania, along with several other countries, has ensured transparency in budget documents, contracts, and public licenses, meeting standards regarding their publication, content, and reliability.

The report cites fiscal transparency as an essential component of responsible management of public finances, as it increases market confidence and strengthens the accountability of governments to their citizens. /CNA
