CNA is attacked by Acromax/ Cukali: Policy tries to truncate information

For days, Aldoir Nini, the persecutor of free speech, through his company Acromax, has organized an organized attack on CNA, with the sole purpose of censoring information.

This is not the first time that Nini attacks the free media. International reports show that the freedom of the media has deteriorated.

In an interview for CNA TV, with the journalist Fabjona Pasho, the head of the Albanian Media Council, Koloreto Cukali says that today the media platforms are in their worst day, directed by the government.

According to Cukali, there is a lack of political will to give the media space to carry out their mission uninfluenced and uncensored.

"In the situation where Albania has reached, the creation of media freedom spaces is a political will. Freedom has shrunk continuously over the years and we have reached a point where I can say with conviction that we can no longer talk about freedom of information, on many levels.

What you mention is one of the forms of truncation of information, i.e. censorship that is done using a certain pretext, interfering with a platform. Since today the public is informed through platforms, therefore, the public does not come to the CNA site, but goes to the platform to read, watch or listen to the news. So this is one of the forms of how freedom of expression is curtailed, but there are many forms.

In the conditions we are in, change comes only from political will. We have a combination of finance, economy, business, with politics, but also with media owners, who have created a very strong knot, which cannot disappear either with journalists' protests or with public protests and requires a will very big political.

There is a conflict of interest that is at the core of the violation of media freedom, and this requires political will, which I do not see. There is no reason why a government, a prime minister, or a political party, or a mayor, who is in power, who also has the money, also has the means of censorship that we are talking about. So, it is possible to create the news as you want.

I see no reason why these people are saying that we are giving up the power we have over the media and the news, so that there is media freedom here. they need the opposite. A free media means control over the powers, in favor of the public. Why should a prime minister, or a mayor, say "yes, now is the time for me to do this charitable act for media freedom".

They have all the tools to control the public narrative and they need it. Every man in power, all over the world, has always wanted this. It commits atrocities, but the narrative should be controlled, another truth should be shown to the public. This makes you very comfortable in the power you have, protects you and strengthens the power you have. Why should you give it up?

Without a very big political upheaval, without a change of this political class, I see no other way in the conditions we are in."

CNA will continue to convey uncensored truths to the public, will investigate and denounce any injustice against Albanians, regardless of the attacks we may encounter along the way./ CNA
