Bust of Llazar Zai Fundo in Korça/ Aurel Plasari: Memento for a tragic

Renowned historian and professor, Aurel Plasari, was present today at the ceremony of placing the bust of the prominent intellectual and one of the founders of the EU, Llazar (Zai) Fundo, in Korça.

Plasari, in a recent reaction on social networks, has published the orders of dictator Enver Hoxha for the torture and murder of the intellectual, Llazar Fundo.

He writes that there is no decision of the Albanian Communist Party, nor of its Political Bureau, nor of the General Staff of the National Liberation Army, and there is no order of the Comintern for the torture and physical execution of Llazar Fundo, as he says is often fantasized.

Plasari states in the video he posted that Zai Fundo was more than a victim of the regime, he was a personal victim of Enver Hoxha. He also described the bust as a historical debt that has been paid.

For the torture and physical execution of Lazar Fundo, there is no decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Albania, nor of its Political Bureau; there is no decision of the General Staff of the National Liberation Army; there is no order of the Comintern, - as is often fantasized, - which at that time no longer existed. There is, yes, an order from Tito: "Openly remove the mask from the Trotskyist Fundo and his collaborators..." (Dedijer, 'Blood Betrayed', Belgrade 1949). As well as this "Order of the Day" of E. Hoxha.

Today, in the heart of Korça, a monument has been placed that brings back to public memory one of the most prominent figures, not only of the city, but also of Albania. The bust of Llazar Zai Fundo, the intellectual and patriot from Korça, was placed in the square that bears his name, marking an important moment for the revaluation of figures persecuted during the communist regime. /CNA
