The tourist village of Voskopoja has been chosen by the southern infantry regiment to conduct a mountain exercise. The area known as Kulet e Gjergjevica, which is located between Lekas ??and Voskopoja, is the highest peak which reaches 1600 m. The 72-hour training planned by this regiment had to be carried out in difficult atmospheric conditions in this area, with the aim of tempering the soldiers and successfully coping with the difficulties. Colonel Gëzim Marku, who is also the commander of the regiment, has shown that it is the first time that an exercise of this level takes place in the region of Korça.

"We have settled in Voskopoja to conduct a 72-hour exercise. It is the first time that the southern infantry regiment conducts an exercise at this level in this region. From November of last year, after the transition of the armed forces to the new structure, and the creation of the southern infantry regiments, one of his battalions is in the Korca region. Normally in armed forces programs, there are exercises that are scheduled in harsh weather conditions, during winter and during summer. These workouts are done from 24 to 72 hours, plus compaction workouts that last up to 2 weeks. This training was actually carried out in this region hoping to find some snow, there was no snow, but still the conditions were difficult due to the rainy weather. Among other things, he says that this regiment has its own parts, two sub-departments with special troops that are declared as part of NATO and EU readiness.

20-year-old Sonja Bako is part of the armed forces for 1 year now. The passion for being part of the FA has made her reach her goal, while she considers today's training as one of the most beautiful despite the great difficulties she had.

"I'm Sonja Bako, I'm a first soldier and I'm in the first battalion of the southern infantry regiment. I joined the armed forces in 2023 and I had a passion to be part of the FA. I found it a very interesting job and that's why I joined. It was a very nice experience, there were many exercises that helped us to be as active as possible and to learn many things that we didn't know before. Today's training had its difficulties because of weather and atmospheric conditions but the rest was affordable."/ CNA
