1 in 3 Albanians suffer from food insecurity/ Dizdari raises the alarm:

The member of the National Council of the DP, Fjoralba Dizdari, stated today that about 1 in 3 Albanians suffer from food insecurity.

According to Dizdari, the report of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization rates Albania as the country with the highest food insecurity in Europe.

She says that the DP is worried because 30 percent of Albanians are looking for "bread for the mouth".

“Rreth 1 në 3 shqiptarë vuan nga pasiguria për ushqim, për shkak të mungesës së parave apo burimeve të tjera. Ky është përfundimi i një raporti të organizatës për Ushqim dhe Bujqësi të OKB, që e bën vendin tonë me pasigurinë më të lartë në Evropë për ushqim. Gjetja është tronditëse, jo vetëm në vetvete, por edhe për faktin se prevalenca e sigurisë ushqimore, që do të thotë përpjekja për të siguruar ushqimin, është shqetësim kryesor i njerëzve, kap 30 për qind të shqiptarëve. Nëse këtë përqindje e ndajmë dhe marrim vetëm pjesën e atyre që kanë pasiguri ushqimore të rënduar, treguesi që regjistron Shqipëria për tre vitet e fundit është 7.7 për qind. Edhe pse është shënuar përmirësim në raport me anketën paraardhëse, alarm përbën fakti se rreth 8 për qind e popullsisë është në hall për ‘bukën e gojës’”, theksoi ajo.

Dizdari states that, as far as what is called 'light food insecurity' is concerned, Albania has the highest level in Southeast Europe.

"North Macedonia accounts for 20.9 percent of the population, while Serbia 14.1 percent. After them comes Montenegro with 14 percent, Bosnia-Herzegovina with 12.6 percent and Croatia with 11.4 percent. Western Europe has this indicator of 4.4 percent. The Democratic Party sees with alarm the fact that a third of the population does not have safe daily food, and emphasizes that the Rama government's policies are unfair, wrong and clientelistic. The division of national assets among 30 people leads 30 percent of Albanians to search for a living," said Dizdari.
