OFFICIAL/ The Chinese era closes, Inter is owned by the Americans

Inter is officially under new owners. The era of the Chinese in the black club ended this Wednesday.

The champions of Italy have passed under the leadership of the American fund "Oaktree". This comes after the failure to repay the three-year loan given by "Oaktree" to the companies that owned Inter, which expired on May 21, 2024 with a total balance of about 395 million euros.

"As of today, May 22, 2024, the funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, LP ("Oaktree") are the owners of FC Internazionale Milano. This follows the failure to repay the three-year loan granted by Oaktree to companies owned by Inter, which expired on May 21, 2024 with a total balance of approximately €395 million in May 2021.

Inter would record financial losses for the 2020/2021 financial year, so Oaktree ensured the club's financial stability to continue operating, while also guaranteeing the payment of players and staff in the three years since Oaktree's emergency intervention. Thanks to this intervention, Inter have won the eighth and ninth Italian Cups, the sixth, seventh and eighth Supercups and the 20th "Scudetto" and the second historic star, as well as reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time. first since 2010.

Oaktree is committed to achieving the best result and to the long-term prosperity of Inter, with an initial focus on the operational and financial stability of the Club and its stakeholders.

Oaktree has great respect for the history of Inter, the passion of the players, the loyalty of the Inter fans; he also has a great appreciation for the Club's important role towards the city of Milan and the world sports community.

Oaktree aims to work closely with Inter's current management team, partners, the league and the sport's governing bodies to ensure the Club is positioned for success on and off the pitch, focusing on strong management and governance with a vision for growth sustainable and successful."

Alejandro Cano, Oaktree's Managing Director and Co-Head of Global Opportunities Strategy, commented:

"As new owners, we know our great responsibility towards the community and the historical heritage of Inter. We are committed to the long-term success of the Black and Whites and believe that our ambitions for the Club are aligned with those of its passionate fans in Italy and around the world. Our initial focus is the operational and financial stability of the club. Our objective is to continue the success achieved on the field with a path of growth and long-term success."
