Toni Kroos has decided to retire from football. This was announced by the midfielder himself, through a recent statement. 

Kroos will also play the final of the Champions League on June 1 and after "Euro 2024" and will retire from football.

KROOS POST: 

July 17, 2014, the day of my presentation to Real Madrid. The day that changed my life as a footballer, but above all as a person. It was the beginning of a new life at the biggest club in the world. Today, after 10 years, at the end of the season, this life comes to an end. I will never forget this exciting and successful decade. I want to especially thank the president Florentino Pérez, the club and all those who welcomed me with an open heart and believed in me. But most of all I want to thank you, dear Real Madrid fans, for your unstinting love and support from the first day to the last.

At the same time, this decision means that my career as an active footballer will end this summer, after the European Championship. As I have always said, Real Madrid is and will be my last club.
Today I am happy and proud that I found in my head and heart the right moment for this decision. The ambition was always to finish my career at the highest level. From this moment I have only one main thought in my mind and nothing will separate me from it: Let's go for 15 (15th Champions)!!! HALA MADRID AND NOTHING MORE!"
