OFFICIAL/ City loses the "architect", the club announces his departure

Manchester City announced this Saturday that sporting director Txiki Begiristain will leave at the end of the season.

The Spaniard was the "architect" of the English team, which for several years has become one of the powers of world football.

"Manchester City confirm that Txiki Begiristain will step down from his full-time role as Director of Football at the end of the 2024/25 season. After twelve trophy-laden years at the Etihad Stadium, Txiki will step down from his current role following the club's participation in this summer's Club World Cup and will be replaced by Sporting's Hugo Viana. Viana will begin his full-time role in the summer of 2025, but will work with Txiki in the preceding months to ensure a smooth transition," the announcement said.
