UEFA punished them because of the war, CAS takes the decision after the appeal by the Russian clubs

CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, has decided to uphold UEFA's ban on Russian clubs from participating in European competitions. The decision to suspend them until a second decision was made on February 28. It all happened after Russia started the war in Ukraine.

The Russian clubs affected by this decision, Zenit, Sochi, CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Moscow appealed this decision to CAS, but the answer given today is negative. The panel ruled that the war had a global impact, creating circumstances that required FIFA and UEFA to respond.

Thus, the Russian teams should not participate in these competitions, as long as the same situation continues. CAS indicates that the decisions of its panel have been communicated to the parties today.
