34 penalties were shot, the European match sets a record

The match between Ajax and Panathinaikos, in the third qualifying round of the Europa League, was really exciting.

This match, played in the Netherlands, set a record in football, as a challenge with more penalties shot.

The 34 penalties that were scored over the course of 25 minutes decided the team that earned the right to play in the play off phase. Ajax remained in the competition after beating Panathinaikos 13-12.

Players made 9 mistakes in total from both teams. The 40-year-old goalkeeper of the Dutch team, Remko Pasveer, saved 5 penalties and scored 1.

Regular time and extra time ended 1-0 in favor of Panathinaikos, but Ajax also won with the same result in Greece. The well-known Dutch team will play for a place in the group stage with the Polish team Jagiellonia.
