The owners of Roma say that the coach Daniele De Rossi was fired because this season is aimed at winning trophies.

In a reaction made on the club's website, Dan and Ryan Friedkin say that a project has been launched to bring Rome to the top of European football.

We have the utmost respect for Daniele De Rossi and believe he will have a great coaching career. Perhaps one day it will return to Rome again. The decision to part with him was incredibly difficult, but we took it with the belief that it gives us the best chance to compete for trophies this season.

We remain active investors in the sports industry. We love the beautiful game. The addition of Everton to our portfolio does not change our focus on Roma. The symbiosis of many clubs will only help Roma. Each club in our portfolio operates independently and Roma remains at the heart of our footballing ambitions.
