Simeone: Happy for Gallagher and Alvarez, we still need work

Atletico Madrid triumphed 3-0 over Valencia this weekend, touching the quota of 11 points in the championship after the first five meetings.

A success that was sealed by the two sensational approaches of the summer, Conor Gallagher and Julian Alvarez, while Griezmann also found the net.

The English midfielder scored the first goal of the match, while Alvarez scored late in extra time to become the 14th Argentinian player to score for Atletico in La Liga this century.

At the press conference, Simeone was very happy that both players achieved, praising them for the work done so far.

"I'm happy for Gallagher and Alvarez. Conor came in with a lot of enthusiasm and we needed a player like him in midfield. He always gives his best and constantly helps the team. Alvarez? We all needed him to score a goal, for him to be calmer, to connect with what he likes. He lives for the goal against Valencia appeared as always at the least expected moment at the end of the game when hope seems to be fading and, luckily, he scored," said Simeone./ CNA
