Israel has decided to bring back the star of the domestic championship, Omar Atzili, for the matches in the League of Nations.

The name of this footballer is very much talked about in Israel, since in 2020 he was expelled from the national team because he was suspected of being involved in a sexual scandal with some minors.

The player who now plays for Maccabi Haifa, was under investigation, because together with the footballer Dor Miça, they had sexual relations with two 15-year-olds. At that time they were forgiven by the prosecution, because according to them it was proven that they did not know that the girls were minors.

But in some messages that "Haaretz" discovered and published a while ago, it appears that both players knew that they were minors.

Meanwhile, starting from this fact, the Association of Women and the Association of victims of rape and sexual violence, have sent a petition and requested the exclusion of Omar Atzil from the national team, creating a big mess in this country. They have even called on the sponsors to boycott Israel.

While Atzili is regarded as the best player in the Israeli championship, on the other hand, the president of the Israeli Federation, Oren Hason, has stated that he does not see any reason to leave a player like Atzili out of the national team.

"I checked at the prosecutor's office and there was nothing against him. He is the best player in the Israeli league. What professional explanation is there for not inviting him," says Hason.
