Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest paid athlete in the world. The Portuguese footballer earns 200 million dollars a year (about 188 million euros) thanks to his recently signed 3-year contract with Al-Nassr of the Saudi Arabian League.

However, he is not the one who generates the most money in relation to the time commitment he devotes to his sporting discipline. Breaking down CR7's earnings per minute, the Portuguese earns around 3,760 euros every 60 seconds, a figure largely surpassed by the winner of the Saudi Cup, the horse race that distributes the most money worldwide.

Last Saturday, the fourth edition of the Saudi Arabian Cup took place, where the Japanese horse Phantalassa ridden by Lord Kanaloa won.

The rider dominated the race from start to finish and was awarded a check for €9.5 million. The horse race lasted only two minutes, which means that the winner generated 4,686,250 euros per minute. A figure simply unattainable for any other sport in terms of money received in relation to the time the competition lasts.
