Admitting to placing bets, the England striker risks exemplary disqualification

Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney has come under fire from the Football Association for breaking one of the main rules for a professional player. Toney is involved in placing sports bets and has done so 232 times over four years from February 2017 to January 2021.

The footballer himself has not denied the accusation, accepting it, while he is already at risk of a six-month suspension. Toney has recently responded to a wide audience and the decision now belongs to the English Federation, which is expected to come out with an official position soon.

On the other hand, the Brentford club is hoping that the federation will come out with a decision as soon as possible so that Toney can begin to repay the suspension starting from the current season so as not to be affected in the next one. We remind you that betting is prohibited for all players, coaches, managers, club members, staff, directors and licensed agents.
