Southgate, the coach next to the Premier League club, returns

Gareth Southgate is very close to being back in charge of a team.

The former England manager is reportedly set to take over at Crystal Palace as Oliver Glasner could be sacked following a disappointing start to the Premier League season.

The London club are 18th in the Premier League standings, with 3 points from 8 games and are yet to pick up a win this season for the first time since 1992.

If there is no change in results then Glasner could be replaced and top of Crystal Palace's wish list is Gareth Southgate.

He has been out of work since July, when he quit the England squad following his side's 2-1 defeat to Spain at Euro 2024.

It is worth noting that Southgate's name has also been linked to Manchester United, with the latter potentially ousting coach Erik ten Hag. /CNA
