The coach of Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, made it clear that his team will not participate, despite having earned the right to be there.

"Real Madrid will not go to the Club World Cup. FIFA forget that we are going. Players and clubs must not participate in this tournament. A single match of Real Madrid is worth 20 million euros, while FIFA will give this figure for the entire tournament. Like us, some other clubs will also refuse to participate," Ancelotti said.

The FIFA Club World Cup is scheduled to be held next year with the pre-season stage in June-July.

Real Madrid is one of the 12 European clubs qualified for this tournament. The small financial reward and prestige have caused the Spanish club to refuse to participate.

The Club World Cup, which with the new format will be organized once every 4 years, will be held in the period June-July 2025 in the USA, on the same dates as the World Cup a year later.

The 32 participating teams will be divided, 4 from the African Confederation, 4 from the Asian Confederation, 4 from the North American Confederation, 1 from Oceania, 6 from the South American Confederation, 12 from Europe and one from the host country.
