Bayern-PSG controversy, UEFA launches investigation into referee

UEFA has launched an investigation into Portuguese referee Joao Pinheiro after the controversial 1-1 draw between Bayern Munich and PSG in the Champions League semi-final.

Although the Parisians qualified for the final thanks to a 6-5 aggregate score, their success has been called into question due to the decisions of the main referee. Pinheiro is accused of ignoring two clear penalties for Bayern and not sending off Nuno Mendes, directly influencing the course of the game.

The situation has been exacerbated by reports that Pinheiro had a private meeting with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi before the match. The news has alarmed UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, who has reportedly demanded a detailed report on the incident.

German media consider this a blatant "theft" that deprived Bayern of the chance of the final. The outcome of the investigation could lead to severe sanctions for the Portuguese referee and shake the image of the most important club competition.
