Roger Federer has announced that he will retire from the sport after the Laver Cup tournament. The Swiss has announced that he will retire and will not compete in the Grand Slam.

It was Federer himself, who, through a video, announced his retirement from the sport of tennis. During his career, the 41-year-old has won 20 Grand Slams.

"Undoubtedly, the biggest gift that tennis has given me is the people I have met along this journey; Friends, colleagues and definitely fans.

As you know, the last three years have been very challenging due to physical problems, which forced me to undergo surgery. I've worked hard to get back competitive, but I know my body's limits well.

And, the messages have been clear. I am now 41 years old and have played more than 1,500 games over 24 years. Tennis has treated me much better than I ever thought possible and now I have to realize that the time has come to end my career. The Laver Cup next week in London will be the last commitment. Of course, I will play tennis, but not in Grand Slam tournaments," Federer said in his speech.
