Another tragedy has struck the world of football. Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has announced the passing of his six-year-old son, Len, after a serious illness.

Ulreich made the news public in an emotional post on social media. He stressed that the decision to share it with the public was difficult, but necessary for clarity and respect.

Together with their daughter, the couple is trying to restart life step by step. Ulreich thanked his family, friends and the Bayern club for their support. He asked the public and the media to respect their privacy.

Sven Ulreich's full message:

"It is with deep sadness that we announce today that our son Len passed away a few weeks ago, after a long and serious illness. The decision to make our story public is an extremely difficult one for us, but an important step for us as a family, to bring clarity to the people around us and to the public. Together with our daughter, we are trying to find the way forward, step by step. A special thank you to our families, our friends and Bayern Munich for the discretion and the extraordinary support over the past months: this has meant a lot to us.
