Ilir Daja asks the team for caution: I never prepare for penalties

Dinamo is ready for the return match against Escaldes in the second round of the Conrference League. The capital team will play at the “Elbasan Arena” with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg in Andorra.

On the eve of this match, coach Ilir Daja declared that there are no easy matches in Europe, demanding maximum concentration from his team.

"We are saying that we are good, because Dita and Itodo, who were not in the first match, are back. To clarify the opinion and the Dinamo fans, both were not in condition for the first match. We are missing Rustem Hoxha, another captain of the team. He was injured in the session the day before yesterday. We are also discussing another player, for health reasons, but we will see until tomorrow. I think it would be very good to have the entire contingent available, but we are good.

"Tomorrow is the 56th match in Europe as a coach. There have never been easy matches, no matter how high-level they are on paper or not. We took a good step in the first match, not only in the result, but we also had a pretty good second half. It is known that these matches do not end with the first match, but we need to be even more focused tomorrow, despite the result we got in Andorra," said the coach. 

Daja said he did not prepare the team for the penalties, something he said he had never done before. He also revealed his concerns about this match.

"I have never prepared for penalties, to be honest, even when I have managed other teams. I do not want to psychologically lead the team towards a result that leads to penalties. The second reason is that it is one thing to shoot penalties in training and another in a match. With the days we had at our disposal, we have taken measures for a difficult match, we have a friendly team in front, which has consolidated maneuvers, especially in the attack phase. We appreciate the opponent, but in the end we will appreciate ourselves more.

As in every match, the biggest concern is how the team will be tomorrow. In the summer period, the state of the teams is volatile, due to the lack of rhythm of the game. We hope that with the contingent we have at our disposal, we will give the best possible, not only to present Dinamo in Europe after many years of absence, but also to represent the level of Albanian football in the European arena.

Even when I reached the groups in the direction of Skënderbeu and Balkan, I didn't think about going to the groups in the second qualifying round. We took things step by step. We will do the same with Dinamo, then we will see how far we can go", declared Daja.
