Six dead and 50 injured, the explosion in Istanbul also affects football

A powerful and deadly explosion occurred today, around 16:20 (local time), in Taksim, which is one of the largest neighborhoods of Istanbul, on Istiklal Street. According to the information coming from the Turkish media, 6 people lost their lives in the explosion and more than 50 others were injured.

CNN Turkey reports that it is suspected to be a terrorist attack using a bag bomb.

This serious event has also affected Turkish football. Thus, the match between Besiktas and Antalyaspor, scheduled to start at 18:00 (15:00 local time), has been postponed to another date. The decision was taken after the authorities feared another terrorist act just as fans gathered to watch the match.
