AFL against the European Super League: We are with UEFA for the development of football on the principles of open competition

AFF, after being familiar with the decision of the European Court of Justice given to the issue of the European Super League, expresses its steadfast position that this decision in its essence does not authorize or allow the formation of a European Super League, but constitutes an orientation for UEFA and FIFA for the installation of policies and the clear establishment of criteria in the administration of the system of authorization of football competitions, which must be in full conformity with the principles of EU law on competition.

What the decision of the European Court of Justice has determined is a reflection and the essence of the efforts of UEFA and FIFA in the last two years to harmonize exactly the system of these criteria with EU law, and we believe that we are already on the right track in accordance with the approach of this decision.

The AFL stands side by side with UEFA, FIFA, ECA, FIFPro, European Leagues or even governments and European governmental institutions and their unstoppable efforts to develop football progressively, based on the principles of open competition,  inclusive, sports meritocracy and true solidarity./ FFL
