Survival final against Bylis, Skënderbeu "condemned" last week

The last week of the championship is the most important of the season for the Skënderbeg team.

A long season, full of ups and downs and numerous difficulties, will end in the most dramatic way possible, with a final match at home against Bylis, where victory is the only way to survive. Any other result would constitute a serious blow not only sportingly, but also morally for a club that once dominated Albanian football.

Currently, the Korça team is in the “play out” zone, a position that still leaves it in the game to stay in the elite, but only if it fulfills the mission and, at the same time, the results from other fields do not go against it. The reality is simple and harsh: Skënderbeu must win against Bylis. No other scenario keeps the hopes of staying in the Superiore alive, due to the disadvantage in direct confrontations with the main rivals for survival, Tirana and Laçi, who are only two points lower in the standings.

This fact further complicates the situation, as a draw would have no value for the Korça team if the two above teams manage to get all three points in their matches. In this case, Skënderbeu would ultimately slip to last place and fall one category lower.

Under the guidance of coach Ernest Gjoka, Skënderbeu have managed to regain some form in the fourth phase of the championship, registering 12 points, more than in any other phase during this edition. This late increase in performance has been a positive omen, but still not enough to ensure peace. Now everything depends on the 90 minutes against Bylis, in a stadium that is expected to be filled with Korçë fans, who will be there to support the team in one of the most important matches in recent years.

Opposite them will be Bylisi, who is also playing for survival and is in seventh place with only one point more. The team from Balshio is playing for two results in this transfer, as in addition to a victory, a draw would help them stay among the best in Albanian football.
