The Kosovo Olympic team ends the Olympic Games with two medals

The Kosovo Olympic team will return home with two Olympic medals out of a possible nine from the Olympic Games, as Hana Beiqi and Gresa Bakraçi were the last Kosovar athletes to compete in Paris 2024.

Beiqi and Bakraçi failed in the first rounds in their respective competitions on Saturday in the French capital, leaving without a medal.

The 15-year-old swimmer finished last in her heat, with a time of 27.34 seconds, not enough to secure a place among the top 16. This was her debut at the Olympic Games.

Bakraçi, meanwhile, was disqualified from the race in the 800-meter run, after breaking the rules by shortening the running route, after leaving her lane prematurely.

However, the Olympic team will return to Kosovo with two Olympic medals from this Olympics, as the Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020, Distria Krasniqi won the silver medal in the category up to 52 kilograms in judo, while Laura Fazliu won the bronze medal in her debut her.

Fazliu triumphed in the category up to 63 kilograms to win the first Olympic medal in his career.

In these games, the legendary Kosovar judoka Majlinda Kelmendi made her debut as a coach, winning her first Olympic medal in her new role as Fazliut's coach.

Kelmendi wrote the history of Kosovar sport when she made her debut Olympic champion at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Apart from Beiq and Bakrac, Adell Shabovic, Nora Gjakova, Akil Gjakova, Loriana Kuka and Donjeta Sadiku failed to win medals either.

Kosovo traveled to Paris with nine athletes in sports such as judo, swimming, athletics and boxing.

Kosovo made its debut in 2016 at the Rio Olympics in Brazil and since then has won five Olympic medals, three gold, one silver and one bronze, all in judo./ REL
