Kukësi has had a season to forget, securing survival only in the last week against Egnatia. The north-east club made numerous changes in the summer and also in January, rebuilding the team almost twice from scratch.

With the end of the championship, there are many footballers who will come out as free players, since their contract with the Kukës club has ended. However, it has been revealed by reliable sources that many players have a clause in their contract that obliges them to request a non-renewal one month before the end of the deal, or else their contract is automatically renewed on terms agreed at the start of the season.

The newspaper learns that several letters have been sent to the AFL from the footballers, who have requested that their contract not be renewed, and it is about names that have actually been headliners and main protagonists in this season's Kukësi. It is about goalkeeper Betim Halimi, defenders Redon Dragoshi and Altin Bytyçi, midfielders Ergys Peposhi and Shqiprim Taipi, as well as striker Edi Basha, who will no longer be part of the Kukes team for the new season. These footballers' contracts expire at the end of May and they want to be free players, so to make sure of something like this, a letter has arrived at the AFL and the club, that they do not want the contract to be automatically renewed with Kukësi. This is a procedure that must be done by the players, as otherwise the renewal of the agreement comes into force.

Meanwhile, among the players who left is the Brazilian attacker, Gabriel Barbosa, who, unlike the others, came to Kukësi on loan. Under these conditions, Kukësi does not decide on his stay or not. The other Brazilian who is in the team, the defender Ebert Kardozo, is at the end of the contract, but the option of extending it for another season has been provided. Now, the club is faced with this fact and must decide how the situation will be resolved for the next season with Ebert, even though the chances of staying are very few. The defender has not made the difference this season, therefore the parties are expected to part with understanding, even though everything is in the hands of the club.
