The betting scandal in Italian football is taking on increasingly serious proportions. Investigations that initially began with names like Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Fagioli are now revealing other details about illegal betting, in which professional footballers, even from national teams, have been involved in an irresponsible and dangerous way.

Free time between training sessions or during breaks between matches was used to place bets. Not only football, but also basketball, tennis or any other sport that offered adrenaline and the opportunity for quick profit. From the materials collected by the prosecution, through wiretaps and messages discovered on the players' phones, a strong addiction to gambling has been evidenced, an addiction that, in some cases, has brought incalculable economic losses and serious disciplinary implications.

At the center of the scandal remains midfielder Fagioli, who during his time at Juventus was revealed to have lost a colossal sum in record time. On February 14, 2023 alone, he spent 250,000 euros on bets between 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with each bet worth 15,000 euros. The only break from this cycle was an hour of training with the team, after which he returned to continue the "ritual", bringing the total loss to 350,000 euros in just one afternoon. 

Florenz's name was directly mentioned in a conversation between Sandro Tonali and the illegal betting manager. According to these intercepts, in January 2023, Florenz had initially lost 80 thousand euros, and then began placing repeated bets of 40 thousand euros each, bringing the total to around 300 thousand euros. For Florenz, the greatest passions were NBA games, tennis tournaments and international football, which constituted his second "field" outside of training.
