Details/ Road damage caused Jota's accident, a woman miraculously escaped

A tragic accident took the lives of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

The incident occurred on the A-52 motorway, near Cernadilla in Spain, where the Lamborghini car they had rented went off the road and burst into flames.

It is suspected that high speed and a tire burst due to damaged asphalt were the main causes of the accident. The highway in question has been criticized in the past for poor maintenance. 10 days ago, a woman was in an accident at the same location, while miraculously escaping in her car.

The two brothers were headed to Santander to then travel to England, as Jota was not allowed to fly for medical reasons.

He had recently recovered from an operation for a lung problem. The Guardia Civil is investigating the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Their deaths came just 12 days after Diogo Jota's wedding. The funeral will be held in Gondomar, Portugal.
