Spectacular debut, Luis Suarez scores 3 goals with Gremio

Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick in the 38th minute of his debut for new club Gremio.

Suarez was a free agent in the summer before returning to boyhood club Nacional for a year in his native Uruguay. He scored eight times in 14 league games to help Nacional become champions of the Uruguayan Primera Division.

But he went to the World Cup without a club, before signing a two-year deal with Gremio on December 31. Suarez made his first substitute appearance in a 4-1 win against Sao Luiz last night and did not disappoint.

He was given a raucous reception earlier this week when 30,000 fans turned out for his official unveiling and Suarez started his scoring streak just 5 minutes after being activated. It was Suarez's first hat-trick in the opening minutes since tearing Norwich City apart at Anfield in his magnificent 2013/14 campaign.

The Porto Alegre side scored all four goals in the first half to lift the Recopa Gaucha Supercup title. Suarez, now 35, scored his 30th hat-trick, but his first on his debut.
