Cristian Shpendi: I wanted to become an astronaut, Steven is more in love with football than me

The attacker of the U-21 national team of Albania, who is shining with the Cesena team in Serie B, Cristian Shpendi gave an interview to the official channels of the Italian club, where he talked about many issues.

First, the "red" talent emphasized that for him the Cesena jersey is a pride in itself.

"Wearing Cesena's shirt is a source of pride and belonging, every time I wear that shirt in the dressing room, I feel like I have to give everything for this city and for these fans," he said at the beginning.

Furthermore, the 21-year-old, who is the best scorer in Serie B, emphasized that they are having very good weeks in terms of results.

"At the moment I'm fine, I feel very good and we're having good weeks with the team because of the results" added Shpendi.

The Albanian also showed his journey to Cesena, when he joined the Italian team and how he became decisive.

"I arrived at Cesena in 2019, I spent two years in the youth sector before joining the first team in 2022. When we did badly in the play-offs against Leço, it was probably the lowest point of my adventure here and there I decided to work harder because I felt I had to give something more to Cesena. I was sick that summer, I felt the weight of not having given what I could, and the desire to give something to the fans and the club ignited in my head. The only thing I thought was to work 200% mentally to bring out the best in me and today I think it was the right way", declared the 21-year-old.

When asked about his twin, Steven, who currently plays for Carrarese, Cristiani said that his brother is more in love with football.

"We always played football although he was more into sports. When we went to play with our father, sometimes I didn't want to get out of the car to do it, it wasn't my first goal, I liked to look at the moon and the sky watching I dreamed of being an astronaut, because those who don't have a twin can't understand, we feel like one," said Cristian Shpendi, among other things./ CNA
