Mark Zuckerberg's 1-Minute Solution to End Indecision

Sixty seconds is all it will take to simplify your day.

In the fast-paced world of business, we often find ourselves stuck in a tricky situation: making decisions.

Indecisiveness is a major concern that can cost you valuable time and opportunities.

When we can't decide, it creates opportunities for doubt and second-guessing, causing stress and anxiety for ourselves and the team.

This ambiguity can lead to missed deadlines, lost deals and reputational damage.

Worst of all, it stifles innovation and stifles creativity as we wallow in endless debate.

How do we break the cycle of indecision and move forward with confidence?

Zuckerberg: Simplify by reducing your choices

While simplifying and reducing one's choices does not sound very smart, this action is not usually practiced when faced with decision overload.

Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is known for eliminating unnecessary choices from his daily routine to help reduce decision fatigue, which is associated with impulsivity and indecisiveness.

A classic example of how he simplifies decision-making is his 'uniform' outfit of jeans, trainers and a gray T-shirt. Yes, he does this every morning.

A useful way to avoid decision fatigue, and to determine your priorities, comes from Stephen Covey's book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

In 60 seconds or less, preferably early in the morning while drinking your coffee, think about everything you will do today and decide:

What will I continue to do? (The goal is to do what only you can do.)
What will I delegate? (Someone has to do it, not just you. So what can you delegate right away that would free you up to do what only you can do?)
What will I eliminate? (The things I don't want to do and shouldn't do. And no one will either. So leave it!) / Monitor Magazine
