Global average temperature reaches record highs two days in a row

The entire world experienced the two hottest days on record on Monday and Tuesday, scientists from the Climate Reanalyzer project at the University of Maine said.

The average global temperature reached unprecedented levels for two consecutive days.

On Monday, there was already a significant increase in heat, but Tuesday saw an even more noticeable increase of 0.17 degrees Celsius, which is considered a significant jump in terms of global averages and historical data.

The University of Maine's climate calculator, which relies on satellite data and computer simulations, predicts Wednesday's temperature will also be unusually high.

In particular, the average temperature of Antarctica is expected to be 4.5 degrees Celsius warmer than the average recorded between 1979 and 2000.

Record high temperatures were observed on July 3 and 4 in northwestern Canada and Peru. Numerous cities across the United States, ranging from Medford, Oregon to Tampa, Florida, have experienced unusually high temperatures, reaching all-time highs.

In Beijing, the temperature exceeded 35 degrees Celsius for nine days in a row last week.

According to climate scientist Stefan Rahmstorf at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research in Germany, the increase in global warming caused by the use of fossil fuels was not an unforeseen event.

The latest daily heat records, although preliminary and unofficial, track a series of exceptional meteorological and climatic phenomena throughout the year.

The record temperature comes as June was also confirmed as the hottest June on global record.

Average temperatures across the planet were 1.46 C above average between 1850 and 1900./ REL
