Manastirliu donates blood/ Appeal to citizens: Save 3 lives in 10 minutes

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, has donated blood to help thalassemic children and in response to the growing need for blood in the summer season.

Even the staff of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and addiction institutions have joined the voluntary blood donation campaign. Minister Manastirliu appealed for the increase of voluntary donations, in order to have an optimal level of blood reserves in the summer season.

“Gjaku është një produkt që nuk blihet, nuk shitet. Është një produkt që vetëm dhurohet. Ndaj, në sajë të solidaritetit, në sajë të angazhimit të të gjithëve, ne mund të bëjmë që edhe këtë situatë, periudhën e verës, ku dihet që nevojat për gjak janë të mëdha, ne të bashkohemi të gjithë së bashku dhe të dhurojmë gjak. Për sa u përket nevojave në nivel kombëtar, ne jemi në 12.1 dhurime për 1 mijë banorë dhe duhet të shkojmë drejt 20 dhurime për 1 mijë banorë, që është një nivel i kënaqshëm dhe optimal për sa i përket dhurimit të gjakut”, tha Manastirliu.

Duke falënderuar dhuruesit e gjakut, Manastirliu u bëri këtë apel qytetarëve:

"3 lives are saved in just 10 minutes! Therefore, it is very important that we all contribute together with this human act and an act which, in fact, beyond our daily commitments and jobs, is a great civic responsibility".

For 2021, over 34,000 blood donations have been made in Albania. 80% of the donations are made by the family members of the people who need blood and the rest are voluntary donations. Based on the need for blood that increases in the summer season, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the National Blood Transfusion Center have launched an awareness campaign for voluntary blood donation./ CNA.al
