Does sleep make us gain or lose weight?/ The study reveals "360°",

Recent research suggests that lack of sleep can cause a person to gain weight.

A review of 30 studies found a link between less sleep and weight gain in children and adults. Another study found  that nurses who slept 5 hours or less were more likely to be obese than those who slept an average of 7 hours.

One possible reason for the link is that being tired can change the brain in a way that leads to overeating.


Meanwhile,  one study  found that lack of sleep was linked to more emotional eating and problems with weight management.

The results of another showed that just 4.5 hours of sleep increased hunger and appetite in study participants. Those who slept 8.5 hours did not have this problem.

In general, it's probably a good idea for anyone looking to lose weight to aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night.
