The councilor of the opposition in the Municipality of Tirana, Xhonatan Pano, has denounced another affair of the mayor Erion Veliaj that has to do with the 24-hour supply of drinking water for Tirana.

According to the councilor, the Municipality together with the OPT have received a loan of 80 million euros for the 24-hour supply of drinking water to the city, while the municipality of Tirana has 150 million euros.

Veliaj is plunging the Municipality of Tirana into 80 million euros of debt and in the end will have to pay 137 million euros with interest.

"We come from an extraordinary situation, because from 2019 to 2023, the opposition had no members of the Municipal Council in the municipality, so we, in 2023, are as if we started completely from scratch.

We will continue our action. Together with Mr. Teliti, we will be sending new letters and new requests to the municipality of Tirana every week.

Also, a new affair that we have denounced and the citizens of Tirana should know about is the new loan that the municipality together with OPT received of 80 million euros for the 24-hour supply of drinking water to the city, while the municipality of Tirana has 150 million euros balance and every year it passes as a part of the budget that is in arrears. 

So, at the moment when it has 150 million euros liquid, it plunges the municipality of Tirana into 80 million euros of debt, and in the end it has to pay 137 million euros together with interest!", underlined Pano./ CNA
