The chairman of the Media Commission and MP, Ina Zhupa, has expressed her opposition to the draft law on Science in a meeting with lecturers.

Zhupa said that the law contradicts EU directives on scientific research, as it monopolizes science.

She stated that she should not establish a ministry for the fields of research of pedagogues.

"This draft law contradicts the Constitution and its decisions, creates conflicts with the Law on Higher Education and Scientific Research and with the Academy of Sciences, as well as with EU and European directives on scientific research.

In no other country can you find such an initiative. A draft law that everyone is against, including teachers and rectors. With the stroke of a pencil, the fields of scientific research are controlled, to be established by a ministerial order. The current law says that it is decided by the universities, not the ministries, who will be the fields of research for the pedagogues. Universities are transformed into gymnasiums and lecturers will simply teach.

Whoever wants to study and do scientific research about PPP in the economy or media freedom, will not be financed with this draft law. It completely ignores the scientific community living in the diaspora. It does not see them as parameters that can be discussed. We support the draft brought by the Conference of Rectors. Politics should stay away from science, so that the funding of science increases and there is a professional and demanding achievement of pedagogues. Let's compare ourselves to the standards of the EU and not those dictatorial countries", said Zhupa, among other things./ CNA
