Prime Minister Edi Rama made a reaction late yesterday evening regarding the fighting between Hamas and Israel.

Rama reiterates his pro-Israel and anti-Hamas stance, but expresses concern for the "suffering of civilians in Gaza".

Like the US, he is calling for a humanitarian pause, stressing that it is essential to end the conflict before it escalates and gets out of control.

The head of the government states that he will participate in the Peace Forum in Paris, to discuss ways of establishing peace in the Middle East.

"While we stand firmly with Israel against Hamas, we are also deeply concerned about the civilian suffering and destruction in Gaza. It is essential to end this conflict before it escalates further and gets out of control. Albania supports President Biden's call for a humanitarian pause in hostilities. In exchange for an immediate ceasefire, the Arab League and Turkey must ensure the unconditional and safe release of all hostages held by Hamas.

After the horrific crimes committed on October 7, there can be no political future for Hamas. Under a UN mandate, an international force led by the Arab League could temporarily take control of Gaza, facilitating a transition of governing responsibilities from Hamas to the Palestinian Authority.
