The works for the construction of the Orikum-Dukat road axis are nearing completion. There are still two weeks left for this important axis for the movement of vehicles, especially during the tourist season where the flow is very large, to be completely open for traffic.

Work is underway for the last asphalt layer in the last two kilometers, to continue with the completion of the entire axis with the necessary signage.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, together with the director of the Albanian Road Authority, Gentian Gjyli, closely followed the progress of the works.

"The Orikum - Dukat road has a length of 14.75 kilometers, it starts at the port of Yachts and ends at the Saint Eliza Bridge, where there is also the connection with the Llogara tunnel. It is a C2 category road, with a width of 3.5 meters for each direction of passage. This project is all treated as in the protection of the slopes, its hydraulic part and all the necessary works of art", said Gjyli.

Minister Balluku described as important the completion of this axis, which is connected to the Llogara tunnel, another work which is expected to be accessible to drivers at the end of June. With the completion of this axis, Balluku said, road traffic in this area will be significantly eased, simultaneously increasing road safety parameters.

"In two weeks we will finally hand it over and then we will focus all our forces on the Llogara tunnel and the Thumana-Kashari axis, which I think is what Albanians and foreign visitors are most looking forward to this year, as the traffic really it has been difficult in recent years due to the large number of planes arriving at Rinas, but also due to the movement that takes place between Albania and Montenegro", underlined Balluku.
