Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja

The Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, told the Parliament how the budget of the Ministry of Justice will be divided.

Manja said that 14.3 billion lek have been allocated to the Ministry of Justice from the State Budget, which will be allocated for the prison system, for compensation of former owners and salaries and insurance.

"56% of the total is occupied by the prison system, 31% by the property restitution and compensation service and 13% by other programs under the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice. 7.9 billion lek goes to salaries and social security, with an increase of 895 million lek, which reflects the increase of salaries in prisons by 16%, and 14% for free legal aid, as a result of the addition of 10 employees to the staff since the change of judicial map", he said.

Manja stated that 4.8 billion lek will go for operational and maintenance services, while 144 million lek will go "for translations due to AQUIS with the EU, 500 million lek for the prison system, mainly for staff uniforms military". 

The minister underlined that: "1.5 billion ALL are investments. It is worth noting that the internal investments for 2025 compared to 2024 for the prison system have increased by 400 million ALL, a 133% increase, where the main project will be the construction of a detention center in the city of Kukës, which will serve the area. why not Kosovo as well"./ CNA
