Minister Hoxha on integration: We are doing the work, the EU should keep its

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, stated that Albania is continuing to work through teams to close the gap between the negotiations and the country's membership process in the European Union.

In an interview with Luxembourg media outlet RTL Today, Hoxha said that the EU should also keep its part of the agreement, while describing the union as a package and not a menu.

"While waiting, we did not stop looking at the stars. We worked. We put our teams to work, we prepared. Negotiations are about the gap, where we are today, where we need to get to and how we are going to close it. The merit-based process must work both ways. We make commitments and make reforms, but the European Union must also keep its part of the deal. Everything they discuss becomes ours. So why not be present as observers? We cannot vote, but we can exchange ideas, learn and prepare. When you make a choice, as we have done to join the European Union, it is not like a menu. We take the whole package", declared Hoxha./CNA
