Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a video posted on his social networks, spoke about the main developments of the week.
Rama stated that during this week a strategic cooperation agreement was signed for the development of the Vlora Energy Center and the supply of liquefied natural gas to Albania, in close partnership with the United States of America.
He described the agreement as another important step for Albania's energy security and independence.
"This was a week where we took another important step towards our energy security and independence. We signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the development of the Vlora Energy Center and the supply of liquefied natural gas to Albania, in close partnership with the United States of America."
After the significant investment in the completion and transformation of the Vlora TPP, a structure that needs to be completed with another component, but which was built to work with oil and will actually work with gas, Albania will be supplied with American liquefied gas for a period of 20 years and through the Vlora TPP will produce electricity, creating a stable basis for the diversified portfolio of its energy sovereignty.
Along with this energy source, the volume of new investments will increase significantly, as will Albania's capacity to power the computer data centers or artificial intelligence programs that will define the next decade.
"Vlora will thus become an important hub, both for the use and for the export of gas through TAP, because part of this agreement is the investment in the pipeline connection of Vlora with Fier, where the Trans-Adriatic pipeline is located," said Rama.
Among other things, he also spoke about the signing of the agreement between KAYO and Fincantieri for the production of naval vessels at the Pashaliman shipyard. According to him, this agreement is not only a new investment, but also a new employment front with about 400 new jobs.
"Another important moment of the week was the opening of another path towards increasing our military capacities and repositioning Albania in the military industry network, where until recently we were completely non-existent for decades. We signed the agreement between the Italian company Fincantieri, one of the great names of European industrial excellence, and our public company Kayo for the production of naval vessels in Albania at the Pashalimani shipyard, both for the armed forces of the Republic of Albania and for allied forces. This is not only a new and very considerable investment, but it is also a new employment front with around 400 new well-paid jobs in the first phase. A concrete perspective for young men and women, starting with the students of the Vlora vocational industrial school, who will be invited to become part of the training programs to be employed in the joint company that arises from this agreement, Fincantieri Albania ", the prime minister said. /CNA
